This talk will show 3 neat features of how to use postgresql in a somewhat unusual way to handle geospatial timeseries in an unknown domain. The talk will give an introduction to how to use json-types in postgresql, the postgresql-extensions postgis to handle geospatial data and the postgresql-extension timescaledb to handle the never-ending stream of geospatial data.
The story of the talk is marine traffic in Norwegian waters with open data from the Norwegian Coastal Administration, presented in an application made by the author.
